What is “Prophecy”? Many people are intrigue with this word, as if there is a veil of mystery around it. What prophecy simply means forth telling, it simply means that to tell or to proclaim ahead of the event that will take place in later time. In the Bible there are plenty of evidences, that God uses His servants “Prophets” to foretelling His people that an event or events will take place in the future.
How many different ways that God connects Himself with His people- God uses visions; dreams; signs and wonders to communicate with His people through Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:17-21)
What is the “Prophet”? It is a person that God uses him or her to proclaim God’s word to His believers and to the world. It usually contains messages in the nature of warnings (Revelation); comforting; encouragements and strengthening. (1st Corinthians 14:3)
How many different types of prophets there are in the Bible? There are prophets that dream dreams or see visions and with interpretation of dreams or visions. For example Joseph and Daniel are in this category. There are prophets that God raised up in power like Elijah, that upon Elijah’s prayer, fire will come down from heaven. There are also prophets that God raised up for primarily function in giving the prophecy. And these are Isaiah, Ezekiel and most of the other prophets in the Bible. And there are also prophets like Elisha and Daniel that were filled with signs and wonders in their lives.
Are there any prophets in the New Testaments? In the Book of Ephesians 4:11 it clearly depicts of prophets as one of the five fold ministry that God established in the church. That God still uses prophets in the New Testament as well as in Old Testament
